Emma and I worked very closely with a client based in Lancashire last year, helping her select furniture for her home. This beautiful property was originally a bungalow that was completely re-modelled inside and outside; converting it into two levels.
We originally first visited the property when it was still a building site, we measured up and discussed how we could make best use of the space! It’s great seeing a project from the very beginning and then going back to see the end result once the client has made their house into a home.
We focused on the open plan living area; which was a kitchen, dining room and casual living space. Colours were chosen to complement the kitchen, creating a balanced and neutral colour palette, where bursts of colours can be added in artwork and accessories in the future. The area we worked with had very large windows throughout the back, which frame the lovely views of the garden. It seemed appropriate to focus the seating so that a good proportion of it faced onto those views, but at the same time, we wanted to zone the living area off so that it felt a bit more cosy. We did this by choosing a corner sofa with a low footstool that matched the cushion colours selected.
It’s great seeing a project from the very beginning and then going back to see the end result! I went back last week to take some photo’s and it was great seeing how the building site had transformed into a beautiful and stylish home with fantastic views of the garden.
