Valentine's Day is fast approaching and you may want to treat your other half to something a little extra special this year. It can be such a challenge trying to think of gift ideas for your loved one, especially since Christmas only seemed like last week! Instead of buying another present, it's always nice to escape to a different city and stay in a swanky hotel for the night.
Even if you're single, why not treat yourself or take a trip away with your friends? Nobody should ever need an excuse to love themselves, but whilst Valentine's Day is on the horizon, this is a perfect time for some self care in beautiful surroundings.
Breaking away from your usual environment can help you stay productive and inspired. Whenever I go to a restaurant or stay at a hotel I always find myself admiring the interior design features. You will often find photos on my instagram of floors or tiles I come across when I'm out and about (tends to end up being quirky tiles in the ladies loos!).
Here are some of my top picks of hotels in the UK with impressive decor; a home away from home.
Oddfellows On The Park
Oddfellows On The Park is a unique boutique hotel in Manchester full of historic character, charm and impressive interior decor. If you or your other half love interior design with period features contrasted with modern and quirky design details then Oddfellows is a must visit to get some interior inspiration. With breathtaking ceiling details, statement lighting features and oversized herringbone flooring; this hotel is oozing with style and ideas you can take away for your own home. Herringbone flooring and statement ceilings are also predicted to be a big interior design trend for 2018! Even if you don't want to stay the night, this boutique hotel also has a lovely restaurant and bar where you can visit in the day for lunch or a relaxed afternoon tea.
Are you fed up of the city and prefer an escape to the Countryside? Artist Residence in Oxfordshire describe themselves as an idyllic retreat in the heart of the English countryside, providing all the comfort and tranquility expected of the most romantic hotel in the land.
With a rustic and eclectic interior decor, this 16th-century inn has five unique bedrooms nestled under its cosy thatched roof. This quirky hotel has a mix of antique furniture and modern neon lighting giving it a fun and alternative twist to the usual country cottage decor. If you love the concept but Oxfordshire is a bit too remote, they also have places to stay in Brighton, London, Penzance and Bristol.
The Bingham Hotel
The Bingham Hotel is a Georgian town house overlooking The River Thames in one of London's leafiest suburbs. If you upgrade to one of the River Rooms you are treated with a beautiful free-standing copper bath tub perfect for a romantic evening in. My dream is to have my own free standing bath one day with taps on the side! It's my idea of heaven. The interiors have a retro vibe with natural warm tones and antique reclaimed furniture, giving the place a really homely feel. A night stay in this hotel would be a perfect romantic escape for Valentine's Day!
I hope this has given you some inspiration for a romantic escape if you love visiting hotels with unique interior design! If you want to create your own romantic boutique hotel style interior, have a look at my curated collection of homeware that you can shop through my website.
